To all the wallflowers:
Every name has been mentioned but you. Every face has been familiar but you. Every effort and acts has been recognized and appreciated but you. Everyone has established an impression and a lasting memory but you. You walked the streets but only shadows are loyal enough to be with you. For everything that you do, you have always been the vine in a building’s crevice that people won’t take time to notice or even bother appreciating. You have always been the ear and never the mouth that speaks. You have always been the person other people wouldn’t care to miss. You are just a mere back-up for everything. The person no other people in the world would remember to have marked. Always the rejected and the forgotten.
You have all the reason to feel sad. You are entitled to feel vulnerability. You are always welcome to feel the demands of pain. The world has been turning lives of other people for the better yet here you are, existing in this world but treated as a stranger. You have the right to cry for it is by crying that your true courage is seen. Cry in silence. You have been strong to release just tears from a surge of burdens that you actually have. You do not hunger for attention. You only ask meager amounts of them when the need calls for it but it seemed like people simply disregard you. The society has been creating brands and standards leaning on the unstable foundation of physical attractiveness and superficial basis. Society has shaped you to develop insecurities for not being a fad in the pop culture.
But let me tell you this. You are not alone. There are always people like you who are truly wallflowers but manage to overcome inferiority which has been preying on them. You may be the person others would repel from and wouldn’t want to be with. But always remember: You are far more interesting than what meets the eye. You are more than just an extra in a film casting or an ordinary passenger in this bittersweet life. You are awesome than what you think you are. Don’t let the stereotyping eyes of people stop you from deserving to own that dream. Bear in mind that a wallflower blooms in silence. People would soon stop to appreciate the beauty they are seeing out of something so ordinary in the past. You matter despite all the voices yelling you’re despicable. You hold the power to stand and let the world see how a wallflower thrives to survive and finally succeed. Peel off all inhibitions and discard all your doubts. It’s time for a paradigm shift. A wallflower is not what they thought it once was. Let them feel the change. A wallflower is more than just a wallflower.
