We Grow from Concrete

Circumstances can be the force you had to contend with to stay alive and it is frustrating. Life here on earth is but a series of random occurrences with a predetermined tragic end. We will all die. We all struggle in many different ways. Others are fortunately fit to make it while others had to struggle more without the assurance of succeeding. You worked so hard and planned incessantly for the uncertain future. You tried to do good things in hopes that a good life awaits, but how can you be so sure? You might have such a great day or a lousy one, yet you might still end up dying any moment.

They say life is what we make it. Well good for you if your one of those folks brimming with optimism. You can still manage to see a silver lining despite how bad things are going. But not all of us is gifted with that mindset. Not all of us can be helped by those motivational literature they call self-help. Not all of us have enough mental willpower to shrug off every wave endangering to collapse on us.

So what’s the point of me getting all bitter here? Well, I am writing this hoping  that it may reach someone who’s contemplating of giving up. I am writing for those who lost the will to fight. I am writing for those who are choked by a surge of misfortunes. I know life has been pretty rough lately or for a long time. But then, I’ve seen too many shirts printed with Never Give Up statements for you to stop fighting.

God has promised a prosperous life. And though others are absolutely pessimistic about it, we can see they still give life their best shot. Now the question is, why do we TRY so hard in life despite the uncertainties? Well, it’s just because humans are wired to survive. Life preservation is at the very core of our beings. What strengthens our stamina? Dreams. We make dreams come true despite how barren the soils are. We will till the land until we make greener pastures out of bleak landscapes. As Hinata from Haikyu once said to Ushijima, “We, who grew from concrete, will win.”
